I think that this hits at the heart of the ineffective Church. Christ crucified needs to be not only in the Churches pulpits and ceremony but also in minds and imaginations of the members of Christ's Body. Too often we expect the work of Christ crucified to somehow be carried out of the Church building without us. This is the good work that the Lord has prepared for us to do.

great post! i know that it's been a constant struggle in my life to not fall prey to the catty competition that can arise in my relationships with other women. i hope i can turn my envy around into rejoicing, being humble and confident in my own deeds and thoughts when somebody else's are different.

"The Church, when it is truly the Church, can never be a cozy club of insiders."<br/><br/>That sentence is so good and so true. I see so many churches with the light of good doctrine but they fail to allow that light to go out and illuminate others in the world. The motivation often is to avoid compromising the truth and to "be ye separate" from the world, but there is an equally deadly opposite error, hiding the light under a basket. Dick Keyes has a great book called "Chameleon Christianity" that goes into some of this in detail.

haha that's a funny and great response. I was just in my car listening to Greg Bahnsen debate Edward Tabash, and some of Tabash's "proofs" against God and the Bible were kinda silly to say the least. For example he said that the Bible was unreliable and errent because in Genesis 3 it says that the man will rule over the woman but that the recent "women's liberation" movement disproves that.
